Maintenance of the Sga-MSMS system
Installation
The Sga-MSMS system does not require any particular installation process.
The only two files which have to be "installed" is the SgaTrap.dll
and its configuration, SgaTrapD.ini. They have to be copied into the
\winnt\system32 directory.
Some other directory should be created. The following directory structure is
at least needed:
- Sga-MSMS directory for programs and their configuration files
- SMSFiles_NN directories for SMS files where
NN can be from 00 to 99 (refers to the SS7MSMS.ini/[Advanced]/sSMSPathNN)
- Sga-Logfiles directory for logfiles
Traps directory for SNMP traps
We suggest the following directory structure for the convenient work with the
Sga-MSMS system (files contained by the directories are listed):
- C:\Sga-MSMS1 : directory for the fist Sga-MSMS modul (works with the first Sga-47 card)
- C:\Sga-MSMS1\SMSFiles_0
- C:\Sga-MSMS1\SMSFiles_1
- C:\Sga-MSMS1\SMSFiles_2
- C:\Sga-MSMS1\SMSFiles_3
- C:\Sga-MSMS1\SMSFiles_NOK
- C:\Sga-MSMS1\Subscribers.lst
- C:\Sga-MSMS1\SS7MSMS.ini
- C:\Sga-MSMS1\SS7MSMS.exe
- C:\Sga-MSMS1\MTP2_47 (+12 dB 75 Ohm).obj ( these files are
the DSP programs for the Sga-47 card, the appropriate program depends on
the type of the SS7 connection)
- C:\Sga-MSMS1\MTP2_47 (+12 dB 120 Ohm).obj
- C:\Sga-MSMS1\MTP2_47 (+00 dB 75 Ohm).obj
- C:\Sga-MSMS1\MTP2_47 (+00 dB 120 Ohm).obj
- C:\Sga-MSMS2 : directory for the second Sga-MSMS modul (works with the second Sga-47 card)
- C:\Sga-MSMS2\SMSFiles_0
- C:\Sga-MSMS2\SMSFiles_1
- C:\Sga-MSMS2\SMSFiles_2
- C:\Sga-MSMS2\SMSFiles_3
- C:\Sga-MSMS2\SMSFiles_NOK
- C:\Sga-MSMS2\Subscribers.lst
- C:\Sga-MSMS2\SS7MSMS.ini
- C:\Sga-MSMS2\SS7MSMS.exe
- C:\Sga-MSMS2\MTP2_47 (+12 dB 75 Ohm).obj ( these files are
the DSP programs for the Sga-47 card, the appropriate program depends on
the type of the SS7 connection)
- C:\Sga-MSMS2\MTP2_47 (+12 dB 120 Ohm).obj
- C:\Sga-MSMS2\MTP2_47 (+00 dB 75 Ohm).obj
- C:\Sga-MSMS2\MTP2_47 (+00 dB 120 Ohm).obj
- C:\Sga-LogFiles (directory to store logfiles in)
- C:\Sga-LogFiles\SgaMSMS1
- C:\Sga-LogFiles\SgaMSMS2
- C:\Sga-LogFiles\CIMDSMS
- C:\Sga-LogFiles\Trapper
- C:\Sga-LogFiles\SgaMSMS1
- C:\Sga-LogFiles\SgaMSMS1
- C:\Sga-SMS\CIMDSMS_1.exe
- C:\Sga-SMS\CIMDSMS_1.ini
- C:\Sga-SMS\SMSEdit.exe
- C:\Sga-SMS\SMSEdit.ini
- C:\Sga-SMS\WhiteList
- \Sga-Trapper\Traps\
- \Sga-Trapper\SgaTrapD.dll
- \Sga-Trapper\Trapper.exe
- \Sga-Trapper\Trapper.ini
- \Sga-Trapper\Trapper.mib
To understand connection between the configuration files and directory structure see the Software components page of this documentation.
Starting the system
The Sga-MSMS system has a very simple starting method.
After booting of the operating system it is needed to start the following software
modules by double click on their icons in the desktop directory Sga-MSMS:
- Trapper.exe
- CIMDSMS.exe
- SS7MSMS1.exe
- SS7MSMS2.exe
The grey PCM and MTP2 signs of SS7MSMS modules indicate the well-done established SS7 connections.
Adding new subscriber
Steps of adding a new subscriber:
- add a new line to the file which contain the subscriber list (the SS7MSMS.html file contains information about the structure)
- reload the edited subscriber list file into the SMS receiver module (with [Subscribers]/Import list from file menu item)
Stopping the system
Deleting subscribers from the HLR:
At the SS7MSMS module there are some ways to delete the subscribers from the HLR.
- First is the using of Subscribers/Send PurgMS for all active menuitem.
In this case all of the regisered subscribers will be purged from HLR,
but it can require a lot of time when there are several registered subscribers.
- Another way is simple closing the application. Subscribers will not be purged from the HLR,
but when the system is started again the Location Update process of subscribers will not require a lot of time
and if some SMS's are arriving to subscribers during the shutdown they will receive them immediately.
Closing connection(s) to SMSC's:
The CIMDSMS module has several function for closing SMSC connection.
- SMSC/Unload SMSC waiting queue: puts all prefetched Short Messages back to INI/[Advanced]/sSMSPath
- SMSC/Forget SMSC waiting queue: simply forgets all prefetched Short Messages
- SMSC/Terminate all SMSC connections gracefully: disconnects all SMSC connections in the normal way
- Abort all SMSC connections immediately (!!!BRUTAL!!!): disconnects all SMSC connections immediately by breaking low layer sockets
After closing SS7MSMS and CIMDSMS modules, it is needed to close
the Trapper.exe modul, as well.
Troubleshooting
Detailed description of certain modules (Software components) has a table (SNMP trap list) containing a column
where there are instructions for the case of different SNMP events.
Regular Maintenance
Industrial PC's containing Sga cards does not require any regular miantenance just what the other PC's need.
